ISTE Standard 3:

Knowledge Constructor

Students critically evaluate and curate information.

Example: In a Science unit on Ecosystems, students( Grade 5-7)explore "Endangered Species" via a virtual project.

  • Curating Resources: Learners use a class-created Google Slides library to collect credible digital resources (videos, articles, images) about their chosen species.
  • Constructing Knowledge: In teams, students create an interactive digital brochure highlighting threats, habitats, and conservation efforts. They use tools like Canva for design and Padlet for collaboration.
  • Creative Artifacts: Finished brochures are shared in a virtual "Ecosystem Fair." Peers provide feedback via audio comments.
  • Meaningful Learning: Students reflect on how their brochure could raise awareness and inspire action.

Outcome: Students critically curate info, co-create artifacts, and share learning - embodying Knowledge Constructors.
Students enact ISTE Standard 3 by constructing knowledge in a learner-driven Ecosystem project. Curating digital resources, crafting interactive brochures, and sharing in a virtual fair, they create meaningful learning experiences - for themselves and peers."
