ISTE Standard 7:

Global Collaborator

At Grande Academy, students in Grades 4–8 become Global Collaborators by participating in a “Cultural Exchange Project” where they connect with peers from other countries using digital tools. The teacher assigns students to small international teams through platforms like ePals, Google Meet, or Flipgrid. Each team explores a shared theme such as “Festivals Around the World” or “How We Protect the Environment.” Students use Google Docs to write collaborative reports, Google Slides to create joint presentations, and Padlet to share photos, videos, and reflections. They communicate respectfully, learn about different cultures, and present their findings to their local classmates.

Teacher’s Role:

  • Set up safe, structured connections with partner classes abroad using trusted educational platforms.
  • Provide clear guidelines on digital communication and cultural respect.
  • Facilitate group formation and monitor collaboration.
  • Guide students in using digital tools to co-create and share content.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Students use digital tools to connect with learners from different backgrounds.
  • Students collaborate on shared projects exploring global topics.
  • Students develop respect, empathy, and teamwork skills through cross-cultural communication.
